Artistic Process

My image always begins through my personal explorations out in nature. I carry my camera along through it all: hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, caving, and so on.

A majority of my photos are taken on an Olympus OM-1, however I have recently began my journey into medium format with a Rolleiflex TLR.

I employ a hybrid process, taking photos on film and then scanning them to make a digital image. I keep my digital edits natural, choosing to keep the film’s color and grain.

In my creation of the photo I focus primarily 0n the composition of the frame, manipulation of light, and the specific peculiarities of my camera system.

I take great care in ensuring my photo scans are as clean and accurate as possible, while using traditional digital tools to exemplify how each individual frame felt in the moment it was captured.
